GNOME: Making Firefox Behave Like Galeon

GNOME Hacks

Posted by tcd@dont.trust.js.sorry on 2004-07-08 15:18:03 +(-1)-

It is not really mine, found it in the web and at least it works with firefox
0.9.1 -- hope it keeps working with future versions, otherwise I'm gonna start
stalking firefox people so they'll keep up on their promise to finetune it for
GNOME ;)

it is a bash script. name it in any fashion you like it, put it in /usr/bin/ or
whatever you like, and substitute "galeon %s" in Custom Web Browser with
"nameofthisscript %s"

--- 8< ---
#!/bin/bash

export MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME=/usr/bin/firefox/
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:$MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME

# get URL to load
url=$1; [ -z $url ] && url=about:blank
what=$2;

if [ -z $what ]; then
/usr/bin/firefox/mozilla-xremote-client -a firefox
openURL\($url\,new-tab\) && exit 0
else
/usr/bin/firefox/mozilla-xremote-client -a firefox
openURL\($url\,$what\) && exit 0
fi

# if xremote failed, then launch the browser
exec /usr/bin/firefox/firefox $url &
--- >8 ---

If you want to finetune it you're welcome :-)

(if you found a way to make firefox open balsa, plz post it here, I am getting
weary of wandering on the web :p)
